Ugo Rondinone’s work illuminates the poetry and order of the natural world.
Ugo Rondinone (b. 1964) was born in Switzerland and currently lives and works in New York. He studied at the Hochsule für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna from 1986-1990. Several years later he moved to New York, where his career continuously expanded. His multidisciplinary practice is deeply rooted in the energy of the natural world. Through his process, material, form and color, fashioned as horizons, rocks and beasts of the wild, are distilled to their essential qualities.
Rondinone has presented solo exhibitions in New York, Vienna, Paris, Miami, Zurich, Tel Aviv, and Milan, among other cities. Rondinone represented Switzerland in the 2007 Venice Biennale. His work has been acquired by the Centre Pompidou, Saatchi Gallery, the Pinault Collection, and the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea among other collections.
